This page lists some tools available for handwriting data collection for different pen-based devices or platforms.

HWDCT: Online Handwriting Data Collection Tool for TabletPC

HWDCT  is a TabletPC-based tool that provides a graphical user interface for collection of handwriting data samples from different writers. The output of the tool is a set of UNIPEN files organized in a directory structure, containing writer profiles, collection procedure details and the digital ink.

The tool is supported on any Tablet PC running 32-bit Windows. You may also a desktop or notebook PC with a stylus or external digitizing tablet for handwriting input.

Digimemo-DCT: Online Handwriting Data Collection Tool for ACECAD Digimemo

ACECAD Digimemo is a portable device that captures user’s handwriting on a normal sheet of paper. The sheet is placed over the digitizing pad of the device and while writing, the (digital) pen’s position is recorded in the form of X-Y coordinates and stored in the device’s on-board memory.

Digimemo-DCT  is a GUI tool that facilitates the creation of handwriting datasets by collecting handwriting data samples from different writers using ACECAD Digimemo devices. For a given script, data collection from writers is performed using specialized forms attached to the devices. The output of the tool is a set of UNIPEN files organized into a directory structure, containing writer’s profiles, collection procedure details and the digital ink data.

Digimemo-dct has been tested on Windows XP with DigiMemo A402 and DigiMemo A502.
